Former Italian Ambassador to the Republic of Chile, Mauro Battocchi, was appointed Director General for the Promotion of the Italy System at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in January 2024.
Previously, he served as Diplomatic Adviser at the Ministry of Economic Development, Consul General of Italy in San Francisco from 2012 to 2016, and Head of International Institutional Affairs at Enel from 2008 and 2012.
Among other jobs, he led the Trade and Investment Promotion Office at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2003 until September 2008.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Bocconi University in Milan and a master’s degree in public policy from Princeton’s Woodrow Wilson School.
Battocchi is the author of “The Euro Game” (Ed. Bocconi, 2022), which examines Italy’s negotiations to join the European Monetary Union.
