Celebrating Boston Capital of Italian Creativity 2024!

A message from the Consul General

Dear friends,
I am pleased to announce that Boston has been designated by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs as the 2024 Capital of Italian Creativity in the world.
In this context, with the support of a dedicated group of enthusiastic volunteers, the Consulate General is organizing a number of activities aimed at promoting Italian creativity, in its various expressions, ranging from culture (music, cinema, theatre) to science and technology, design, research and innovation, food and gastronomy, including the promotion of Italian language. Many of these activities will be featured in a major event, the Festival of Italian Creativity, running November 14-22, at various locations in Boston, including the Federal Reserve Building where the Consulate is located.

The Festival will involve institutions, universities, businesses and artists from Italy, Massachusetts and the New England area and will provide the ideal opportunity to promote Italy and to highlight the multiple connections between Italy and the US.

I cordially invite you to our 2024 Festival of Italian Creativity!

Consul General of Italy in Boston
Arnaldo Minuti

WHEN: from Thursday, November 14 to Friday, November 22, 2024, right before Thanksgiving, to kick off the Holiday Season. During these days, Italian creativity in different fields will be highlighted: from culture to science to economy (including theater, cinema, music, literature, design, architecture, technology, life sciences, clean tech, robotics, advanced materials, space, sports, food, and gastronomy).

WHERE: in Boston, at the Consulate General of Italy, located in the Federal Reserve Building, and at other iconic locations in the Greater Boston area, including the SOWA Power Station, which will host a Gala dinner that will conclude on November 22, 2024, the two weeks’ celebrations of Italian creativity.

WHAT: The Consulate General of Italy in collaboration with the “October Italian Heritage Month Committee” of Massachusetts presents a rich program, integrating cultural events (music, cinema and theater), seminars and presentations, Italian language laboratories, food tastings, inspirational guests and displays, and so much more. Inspired by Italo Calvino’s “Lezioni Americane”, the program promises to offer amazing promotional opportunities for anything Italian: from technology & innovation to architecture & design, from cinema to music, from food & to sports and beyond. The themes of the different American lessons (lightness, rapidity, exactitude, visibility, multiplicity, and consistency) will drive the declination of each happening.

WHO: Government agencies, and officials at both state and municipal levels; leaders of the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of government, as well as Boston City Hall; iconic Italian and Italian-American companies and brands; major Italian research institutes and universities, including the Italian National Research Council (CNR), the Italian National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN), and the Italian Space Agency (ASI); consortia; scientists, scholars, entrepreneurs, investors, students, schools, the broader public, and anyone interested in Italian culture and fostering connections between the USA and Italy.

WHY: The Festival of Italian Creativity in Boston is a major event celebrating the modern and contemporary genius of Italian creativity in an environment that, with its more than 50 universities and a “knowledge-economy” strongly rooted in the urban fabric, makes Boston the multifaceted cultural capital of the United States of America, where the creative drive is renewed every day. In this context, immense has been the cultural heritage generated by the historic Italian-American community and renewed by modern intellectual immigration from our country (academics, scientists, researchers, entrepreneurs, students, etc.).
