Maria Chiara Carrozza is the new president of CNR

Maria Chiara Carrozza is an Italian physicist, engineer and politician. She was the Minister of education, university and research between April 2013 and February 2014 in the Letta Cabinet.

Full Professor of Industrial Bioengineering, The Biorobotics Institute, Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, Pisa, Italy and Scientific Director of Fondazione Don Carlo Gnocchi Onlus, Milano, Italy.

PhD in Engineering (1994) at Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, she take a Master of Science in Physics (1990) at University of Pisa.

She was Member of the Italian Parliament, Chamber of Deputies, (Foreign and European Affairs Committee) and Minister of Education, University and Research of Italian Republic.

From 2007 to 2013 has been Rector of Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna and from 2005 to 2007 Director of Research Division of Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna. Since 2016 President of the National Group of Bioengineering, Member of IEEE Society of Engineering in Medicine and Biology (EMB), and of IEEE Society of Robotics and Automation (R&A). Since 2015 she is Member of the Board of Director of Piaggio SpA and since 2015 Founding Partner of IUVO SrL ,Spin-off of Scuola Superirore Sant’Anna in wearable robotics .
